How I Saved My Brother-in-Law’s Wedding

As every Mom knows, being prepared for disasters (or boo-boos) is essential. As a rule, I always carry antibacterial wipes, bandaids, and burn cream with me, because having a toddler makes it necessary to do so. And as I’ve learned with her, having it on your person at all times, even if your toddler isn’t there, is smart.

And that proved to be extremely useful at my brother-in-law’s (BIL) wedding.

He and his wife got married in sunny Florida in the summer. It was a fantastic wedding! But the day before the rehearsal dinner, my BIL stayed in the sun way too long. His face looked like a cherry, and his smile was more of a grimace. Yes, he completely burned his face the day before the rehearsal dinner, and only two days before the wedding. Can you imagine the photos? Not to mention the pain of smiling all day with that kind of a sunburn.

First aid kit to the rescue! I had one last packet of burn cream in my kit, and he was able to apply it a couple of times that night. And no kidding…he had the most perfect tan the next day. It helped heal his skin, and it saved the wedding. Or at least the wedding photos.

Stay safe out there!
